Description:
California State University, Fullerton seeks a courageous, enthusiastic and creative leader to serve as the Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Programs.

The incumbent should possess the ability to develop and administer impactful staff and faculty diversity and inclusion programs. The incumbent will be expected to collaboratively promote innovative strategies that lead to an enhanced and sustainable cultural competency as reflected within the University community and the institution’s processes and policies.

Working within the new division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, the incumbent will partner with the Director of Employment Services and the Associate Director of Executive Talent Management & Branding to ensure that the University recruits and retains a highly qualified and diverse faculty and staff. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, the incumbent will serve as the University’s chief diversity officer responsible for challenging the status quo and effectuating large scale cultural change in alignment with the University’s strategic goals, mission initiatives and best practices in diversity. The incumbent will collaborate with key stakeholders within the University community and foster relationships with strategic partners and diversity/affinity groups, both internally and externally.

The incumbent will prepare all necessary reports and data in support of the business case for employee diversity and inclusion practices. Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the compilation of the annual affirmative action report, mandated by the federal government. This role will require the ability to interpret the University’s utilization data on the basis of gender and ethnicity (as compared to national availability data by job group or academic discipline) for administrators and search committees.


Essential Qualifications
-Advanced degree from an accredited university (J.D., or an M.A. in Human Resource Management, Political Science, Sociology, or other related field).
-Experience in Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance, working with faculty and staff recruitment processes, or working within the division of academic affairs in an accredited college or university.
-Possess knowledge of relevant federal laws and regulations pertaining to EEO.
-Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
-Strong interpersonal skills.
-Leadership skills and experience.
-Familiarity with shared governance in a higher education setting.
-Ability to set strategic direction and to design and implement effective institutional diversity policies and programs.
-Skills in collaboration, managing change, and building consensus.
-Ability to gather and analyze data and make sound assessments.
-Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
-Demonstrated computer proficiency to effectively communicate data.


Preferred Qualifications
-Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration or Ph.D. in Political Science, Sociology, Human Resource Management or other related field from an accredited university.
-Demonstrated knowledge and experience in driving a successful strategic diversity employment agenda in a large university.
-A track record of engaging organizations in disciplined processes toward achieving greater diversity.
-Well-established network of diversity sourcing, including universities.
-Demonstrated training and coaching skills.
-CSU and PeopleSoft background a plus.
-SPHR, PHR or other appropriate certifications.


Classification: ADMINISTRATOR II

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
