$4,314 - $8,831 per month ($51,768 - $105,972 annually)
Anticipated Hiring Range*
$5,000 - $6,572 per month ($60,000 - $78,864 annually)

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary*
The incumbent, who reports to the Help Desk Coordinator, provides end-user support for hardware and software to administrative offices, computing facilities, faculty, staff, and students. This support includes one-on-one on-site consultation, telephone, and e-mail consultation, presentation training classes, preparing documentation, technology evaluation and recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications*
Education/Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field; one year of experience in help desk support, particularly in support of "Highly visible" offices; three years of experience in information training.

Knowledge: Working knowledge of PC and Macintosh workstations, various versions of Windows, Mac OS, Unix, commonly-used workstation software, including: word processors, spreadsheets, electronic mail programs, Web browsers, and communications software; familiarity with network operating systems and the Internet.

Skills: Effective analytical and problem-solving skills; work independently to solve complex computing problems while balancing multiple priorities with varying scope and timing; work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines; effective verbal and written communication skills.

Abilities: Reason logically and creatively to identify and resolve problems; patient, tactful, and professional under all circumstances; relay technical information effectively to non-technical users; function effectively as a member of a team and participate in activities and assignments that will benefit other members of the team or will contribute to the accomplishment of team objectives.

Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience with Java, C++, Visual Basic, SQL or another programming language
- Ability to monitor developments in information technology in order to advise users on technology tools
- Sensitivity to the needs of administrative offices is critical, and so previous experience in supporting a very 'visible' office will be strongly preferred
- Creativity, energy and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Working knowledge of cellular and wireless technologies
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed customer support records
- Working knowledge of the demands of an academic environment and the ability to relate information technology concepts, the selection of appropriate technologies, and cost-effective equipment selections and staffing requirements
The incumbent must be able to meet users in their offices and to present demonstrations to groups of up to 30 people. The incumbent must be able to operate a computer workstation, and to bend and stretch to reach servers and other equipment in the computer room and users' offices.
The incumbent will be required to wear a pager, or provide a cell phone number, and may be called after work hours to assist with computer-related problems.
