The Department of Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State University (SDSU) seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant professor level in the area of System Dynamics and Control starting August 2014. SDSU Department of Mechanical Engineering is strongly committed to excellence in both research and education at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Applicants must hold an earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline and have an ability and desire to teach dynamics, control theory, motion control system, and related applied courses such as robotics. The successful candidate is expected to have potential for developing an externally funded research program in System Dynamics, Automation and Control, Mechatronics Design, Robotics, Instrumentation, etc. Current mechanical engineering faculty are highly research active and have funded research from DOE, NSF, NASA, NIST, and other sources. As part of their research and educational responsibilities, all faculty in the department are expected to supervise teams of undergraduate as well as graduate students in our M.S. and Ph.D. programs. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to lead and/or participate in major research proposals involving several faculty members.
