Description:
The Position: The Department of Management is searching for a tenure track Assistant /Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship to start in August 2014. The position requires excellence in research and teaching in a highly collegial working environment. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success. Position is contingent on funding. Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a doctorate in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, the doctorate must be complete by August 20, 2014.
Candidates need an exemplary ability to teach undergraduate entrepreneurship courses and demonstrated evidence, or potential thereof, for scholarly publication in entrepreneurship-related refereed journals. Candidates are subject to a criminal records check.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given for a doctorate from an AACSB-accredited program. Experience in new venture creation, commercialization, and outreach to external business community partners are preferred.

Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service. Tenure track faculty typically teach three sections per semester (with a reduction in the first year), publish in refereed, professional journals, and fulfill service obligations. The successful candidate will have a strong teaching interest in entrepreneurship courses. Additionally, an active role in refining curriculum and developing co-curricular initiatives is valued.

The successful candidate will be required to teach in the core entrepreneurship course sequence: Introduction, business plans, and launching new ventures. Electives in innovation /commercialization, family business and social entrepreneurship are also possible teaching opportunities. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience.

The Department: The Management Department is the largest of the four departments within the College of Business (http://www.csuchico.edu/cob/) and offers several degree options as part of the B.S. in Business Administration. These include an option in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, and a minor in Entrepreneurship, among others. Both the option and minor are available to students from across campus, helping to create an atmosphere which fosters innovation and collaboration in an inter-disciplinary manner.

The College of Business service area is the twelve counties of northern California. The Center for Entrepreneurship hosts business concept and business plan competitions, supports student entrepreneurship organizations, offers ongoing entrepreneurial activities, manages a seed investment accelerator fund, and supports student business opportunities with an e-incubator. The vibrant entrepreneurship community benefits from the residential campus, which is steps away from the downtown business community and the city of Chico's small business incubator.
