Position Information
This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

The successful candidate will be required to file an initial "Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests" within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis.

Salary Range and Max Salary

The salary range for this classification is: $59,376 - $188,376 annually.

Candidates must pass a Live Scan (fingerprinting) background check as a requirement of employment.

The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Campus Marketing Statement
California State University Dominguez (CSUDH) was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University System. CSUDH is a comprehensive urban university in the city of Carson serving a diverse study body of approximately 15,000. The 346-acre campus is located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, close to many major freeways, business, cultural and entertainment centers, less than 15 miles south of metro Los Angeles and 6 miles west of Long Beach. The university offers 47 undergraduate and 22 graduate degrees and numerous credential and certificate programs taught both in traditional classroom settings and online.

Department Marketing Statement
Human Resources Management (HRM) is a department within the Division of Administration and Finance with responsibility for Human Resources and Payroll Services. The department develops, coordinates, and evaluates innovative and effective human resources programs, policies, and services designed to enhance the university in the areas of: recruitment and selection; employee and labor relations; collective bargaining oversight; compensation, classification, and salary administration; benefits administration; training and professional development; organizational planning and development; payroll operations; workers compensation management; and Equal Employment Opportunity, Title IX, and other regulatory compliance.

Major Duties
Under the administrative direction of the Vice President of Administration and Finance, the Associate Vice President, Human Resources Management is responsible for administering the processes for human resources and payroll services. The incumbent is expected to provide vision and leadership, strategic direction, and development of university human resource services, policies, and programs fostering a high performance culture and support the recruitment, retention, and development of a superior workforce. The incumbent collaborates with leaders and managers across the university to ensure responsive and effective human resource practices advance the university┬┐s mission and goals; is a member of the Division of Administration and Finance senior leadership team, and a key campus advisor on human resource policies and procedures.

Must have a broad and thorough knowledge of the systems, methods, and administrative procedures involving planning, organizing and directing a human resources management program. Knowledge of the principles, procedures and practices necessary to implement comprehensive Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity guidelines.

The ability to assess complex issues and make sound judgments involving personal and confidential matters; must possess a strong ability to orally communicate ideas and recommendations; and ability to write clearly and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with administrators; aptitude for budgeting and monitoring departmental resources; proven skills in managing a number of competing priorities and complex issues; ability to direct a variety of human resources disciplines, meet deadlines, complete projects accordingly and experience using, managing, and implement integrated comprehensive information technology systems; and the ability to effectively and professionally represent the mission and values of the University within a diverse environment is required.

Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, managerial experience, team building and conflict resolution techniques and a consultative approach to problem solving; sensitivity to individuals of diverse backgrounds, strategic planning and innovative with limited resources.

Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in an executive management level position within personnel/human resources including a minimum of five (5) years encompassing a full range of human resources disciplines within a public entity.

Preferred: Experience in a comprehensive, public sector and collective bargaining environment and experience with PeopleSoft HRIS systems.

Education: Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution, preferably MBA/MPA, HR, Labor Relations or a closely related field of expertise.

Preferred: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR Certified).
