Founded in 1887, Chico State is the second oldest CSU, offers over 100 undergraduate majors and options, and is ranked as one of the top five public regional universities in the West. The university is a popular Northern California residential campus, with 90 percent of its more than 16,200 students living within a one-mile radius of the campus. With a faculty of more than 1,000, Chico State emphasizes academic excellence and close interaction with professors. Students have won recent national awards in business, engineering, journalism, political science and speech.
